🐠 Sea-Doo Seascooter & Similar Brands
- Generally offer 180 days (6 months) manufacturer’s warranty from ship date, covering material and manufacturing defects.
- Battery coverage varies—often excluded from standard warranty.
- Labor for authorized repairs typically included within warranty period.
- However, misuse, abuse, commercial rental use, or unauthorized servicing nullifies warranty.
🌊 Water Damage & Warranty Limitations
Many warranties explicitly exclude water damage, even if the scooter is rated IP‑X or marketed as “water‑resistant.” Users often report warranty claims denied due to moisture intrusion. A few real-world user reports (from other electric vehicles) highlight this:
“Warranty is void if weather‑related water damage is determined. Owner is responsible for storage and protection from the weather.”
“The warranty ‘does not cover flooding…’ Scooter flooded on the first dive… they agreed to repair or replace, but service took months and unit returned seemed used.”
✅ What You Should Do
- Read the warranty fine print carefully—look for clauses about water/flood damage, depth limits, and authorized service channels.
- Inspect on delivery, report defects in writing within the time window.
- Use and store properly: avoid deeper-than-specified dives, unauthorized servicing, or excessive impacts.
- Keep shipping costs in mind: many brands charge the owner for sending the unit back/forth for repair.
- Keep records of communications — especially in case of denied warranty claims.
